Lewis Hamilton leaves Toto Wolff's Monaco apartment on rare custom motorcycle

Lewis Hamilton has been spotted leaving Toto Wolff's apartment building in Monaco on a rare, custom-built MV Agusta F4RR.

The seven-time Formula 1 champion became an ambassador for MV Agusta in 2015. The partnership, which came about through Mercedes-AMG, began with the launch of the MV Agusta Dragster RR LH44, which was unveiled during the Milan Motorcycle Show in the same year. In 2017, Hamilton launched his second project with the MV Agusta team: the F4 LH44.

While the 2015 Dragster RR LH44 was limited to 244 units, and the 2017 F4 LH44 to 44 units, it seems as though the F4RR that the British driver was spotted on in Monaco is a rare, custom-built machine.

The video, shared by Pistons Brothers, shows some of the up-close design elements. The bike features a pearl white and chrome red design with Hamilton's 'LH' monogram on the fuel tank. A bronze plate on the centre of the handlebars states, "F4RR Lewis Hamilton 01/01."

Speaking about his partnership with MV Agusta in 2017, the Briton explained:

“I am very excited to continue my partnership with MV Agusta. I love working with Giovanni and the guys at MV Agusta, their passion for engineering and attention to detail produces stunning, original looking bikes.

“My projects with MV Agusta are a great way to combine my love of riding bikes with my interest in creative design process so I am very much involved with the CRC design team throughout.

“I am particularly excited to introduce my new bike, the F4 LH44. It looks quite stunning and I had the pleasure of riding on track a few weeks ago in Italy, it feels great and combines the best of both worlds, a race bike for the road. There will be 44 bikes produced so I hope the lucky owners will love it as much as I do.”

Hamilton's F4RR LH44 boasts a staggering 212 hp and is said to sit at a dry weight of 183 kg.

It's unknown as to why the former Mercedes driver was visiting the team principal's apartment building. While the driver has left the team for the Scuderia, the two still have a good relationship. 

After the news of Hamilton's leaving broke early 2024, Wolff confirmed the state of their relationship:

“When he told me first, my next thought was pragmatic, what does it mean? When are we communicating this? What are the pressure points? How are we managing this season going forward, and what is it we are going to do in terms of driver line-up,” he admitted.

“That was the mind, the Mercedes, the team’s mind, kicked in. Now, having slept a few nights on it, it means that our professional journey comes to an end, working together, but it doesn’t mean that our personal relationship ends.

“I’ve found a friend, we’ve built a relationship over the last 10 years, and he faced a very, very difficult situation, taking a decision of where to drive, maybe for the first time since 10 years without being able to brainstorm with me. And therefore, I will always respect the difficulty of the situation that he faced. And in the future, we will discuss whether this could have been done in a different way or not. But I hold no grudge.”
