Wednesday 21st February was the last day of testing at Valencia for Williams and Spyker and on the final day just four drivers were on track. The Williams of Nico Rosberg topped the times with a best of 1:11.919 and team test driver Narain Karthikeyan was fourth fastest, over two seconds down.

After giving track time to its numerous testers on the first two days Spyker had only its racers on duty. Adrian Sutil was the quicker of the two in second, nearly six tenths off Rosberg, and Christijan Albers was third, about the same gap away from his teammate.

The pair had a varied programme, including race simulations, balance optimization, performance improvement over a single lap and control systems. The damp track this morning gave an opportunity to work on wet weather tyres although Sutil stopped out on the circuit, reportedly due to brake issues.

"We worked hard on set-up options last night and today came back with some good solutions to get more out of the tyres," said technical director James Key. "We've now got a much better handle on the performance over the first lap with new tyres."

Sutil was positive about progress despite a brake disc glitch. "We had some good runs in the last hour and tried out some different set-ups and control systems settings," he commented. "In the entry to the corner we have a lot more stability and mid-corner there's not so much understeer. In every area the car has more grip."
