Last chance for collectors to buy the JA on F1 2009 season review

The new season is almost upon us and I wanted to say thanks to everyone who has bought a copy of my review of the 2009 season, "A Revolutionary Year".

For those who haven't seen it, it is the story of the season through the eyes of selected blog entries, month by month. It's fascinating to look back on a season and see how the stories developed. There are reports on every race, looking behind the scenes at why they happened as they did. The stunning photos are all by Darren Heath.

The response among F1 insiders and readers alike has been very positive and I have taken note of the many readers' suggestions for improving it for the 2010 edition, which will come out at the end of this season, in November.

I will be adding some of the best reader comments this year and there will be a bigger percentage of writing looking back at the year's happenings and putting events in context, with the benefit of hindsight.

As last year, the 10 readers who are most active in the comments section during the year will each receive a free copy - but that doesn't mean carte blanche to spam the comments - we will be monitoring.

There are only a small number of books left now in the warehouse, so anybody wanting to get this limited print run first edition should pick one up now before they sell out. The books are all signed and from a collectable point of view, it's worth remembering that they have a Brawn car on the cover, a team which only existed for one season, so it will be a cool collectible in the future.

If you haven't already got one, click on the book icon on the right of the page and fill out the fulfilment page.

Review by Andrew Benson, BBC Sport Online

"Allen's blog, written in a casual, approachable style, is one of the best ones out there, so it's no surprise to find that he is a reliable guide to the season.

"He's informed and insightful, bang on the money on some things, less so on a handful of others. But then, as I know only too well, that's one of the occupational hazards of trying to report the news in a world as Byzantine as F1.

"..It is surprisingly fun to take your time looking back through the year and re-trace all the key developments as they happened."

Some reader reviews

"Really enjoying it – it is great to see that you managed to look through the crystal ball on many occasions throughout the year. " (Andy E)

"I did wonder if I would want to re-read much of the web that I have already surfed... but I have not put this down and it has made a few train journeys go quickly. It provided background the reasons behind some of the 'strange' decisions made last year. The mix of the race day reviews and the politics is an enticing read." (Seisteve)

"What I like in this format is how everything gets equal emphasis over the year. It seems in most annual reviews things tend to be skewed towards the business end of a season." (Aaron James)
