Lando Norris stuns Japanese GP paddock with "probably very illegal" custom Nissan Skyline R32

Lando Norris arrives in Suzuka in style with an incredible modified Nissan Skyline GT-R R32.

Lando Norris made a perfect entrance to Japanese Grand Prix media day at Suzuka, arriving in a highly modified Nissan Skyline GT-R R32.

After teasing the car in a social media video earlier in the week in a fun Tokyo Drift-style trailer, the McLaren driver turned heads as he arrived at the home of the Japanese Grand Prix with the Skyline, modified by Liberty Walk.

Some of the modifications to the R32 include an external oil cooler mounted to the front of the car. Sat behind this is an aftermarket intercooler, so you can assume it also benefits from an uprated turbo system.

On top of this, the build includes an elongated splitter and front bonnet inspired by Kaido racers, a wide body kit, aftermarket wheels, and a prominent rear wing. The interior has been stripped with racing seats, a racing steering wheel, and door bars, which are essential due to the door cards being removed. Anyone who's raced a budget build will appreciate not relying on a single layer door in an accident. It also features an aftermarket, extra-length gear stick.

The car is a collaboration between legendary Japanese modification company Liberty Walk and Norris' media company, Quadrant. The British driver spoke about the R32 with Motorsport.com and other media in Japan, stating:

"Yeah, thanks, my car is nice. Actually, this one is not going to be my one, but [it's a] R32 Nissan. It was just a cool project with Liberty Walk that I got to do with Quadrant, nothing to do with McLaren or Formula 1, it was just my love for cars outside of Formula 1.

"I mean a lot of people know I like my cars and I have different cars and things like that, but it's not just new modern cars that I like. In fact, I like more vintage stuff, but I also like variety, and this is something that is very different to European cars.

"But yeah, R32 Nissan, I mean a lot of people know the Liberty [Walk] stuff for the R35s, the more modern cars, but the R32 is just a nicer smaller car, and it's JDM, which again is not something that is known that much in Europe.

"But it's just a cool different car, and it's probably very illegal, which is great, and I think that's why a lot of people like it, so yeah, it's just a cool experience to do something with them, and with the Quadrant team as well."
