Pedro Lamy, the only Portuguese driver in F1, had an serious accident during tests in Silverstone, England.

On lap 4 of the testing, Lamy lost the control of the Lotus-Honda and had a heavy impact on the wall. No explanation to the accident so far. Lamy broke both legs and the pulse. 2 months stopped is expected. It was on a straight (very odd), it was raining and the speed was approximately 240 km/h. Jonhy Herbert was the first one to aid Lamy, as he was close behind him.

Zanardi is expected to substitute Lamy, but there is no confirmation yet.
