Keeping Raikkonen the right decision for Ferrari - Vettel

Sebastian Vettel is fully behind Ferrari's decision to keep Kimi Raikkonen in 2017, the German stressing that their good relationship allows the team to focus on improving the car.

"I think it's the right thing to do," said Vettel. "I think we're both pushing very hard. I think our primary target is to catch the leaders, in that case Mercedes.

"So there's plenty of work ahead of us. I think it's important that there's been a lot of talk, and it all goes quiet, and we can focus on our work.

"I would say that probably Kimi and myself probably have the least ego problems in the whole paddock, which I think is good for the team. We're working in the same direction.

"On the track we both try to race hard, as we've shown in the past, in the races where we've raced for position. I think that's normal. Outside the car, I think there's no problem."

Asked if Raikkonen was the teammate that he has enjoyed the best relationship with, he said: "He's the least complicated, let's put it this way.

"I think in general I got along with all the teammates I had, here and there I had some difficulties. With Kimi there is no politics.

"That's good, it keeps everything quiet, we can put our own egos behind, and it's good for the team.

"He's a world champion for a reason, I think he would have been a multiple world champion if in the early years McLaren gave him a better car.

"I think he's one of the most talented drivers we have on the grid, there's no doubt."
