PARIS, Oct. 25 (UPI) - French auto giant Peugeot announced Tuesday it will supply its engines to the Jordon Formula One motor racing team from next season, confirming a split with McLaren after only one year.

It is a three year deal.

Mercedes is expected Friday to announce a deal to supply McLaren from next year.

Schumacher previously said he is keen to drive for Mercedes if the automaker can produce a successful car.

Schumacher recently signed with Benetton-Ford for 1995.

Eddie Jordan: "[This team] has been a championship winner in every category it has entered, but I have always known it would be very difficult to achieve that feat in Formula One without support of a major engine manufacturer."
