Before this morning's Hungarian Grand Prix, Honda released a statement that it would no longer supply the Jordan Formula One team after the end of this season. Team principal Eddie Jordan announced not long afterwards that Jordan have signed a deal with Ford for Cosworth engines for the next three years. The team will be badged as Jordan-Ford.

"We are very proud that Jordan and Ford and Cosworth will be working together for the next three years or so," said Eddie Jordan. "It means the car next year will be a Jordan-Ford, with the blue oval back in Formula One, which is for me very exciting news. I think we should all rejoice a day when Ford publicly announce they are coming back into Formula One. It's a proper Ford- related partnership, with dedicated people inside Cosworth who will be exclusively dedicated to Jordan."

Jordan were originally to use Honda engines for 2003 but the agreement was terminated -- it's rumoured that Honda wanted paying for the use of its engines next year. Cosworth have been supplying the Arrows F1 team with engines this season but financial difficulties within Arrows have resulted in non-payment. Jordan will go into battle against the similarly Cosworth powered Jaguar Racing in 2003.
