Jaguar Racing continued its preparations for the San Marino Grand Prix with Eddie Irvine again in action on a dry but windy Valencia circuit.

The Ulsterman completed a substantial 64 laps of the circuit in setting the seventh quickest time of the session in 1m14.672, just 0.1s adrift of Juan Pablo Montoya's Williams. The Jaguar Racing driver continued working on minor adjustments to the R3's aerodynamic package, while concentrating on improving the balance of the car.

Much of the recent progress with R3 has come from a better understanding of the its behaviour under different set-up regimes, so Irvine was particularly keen to take the wheel this week to help push the improvements along.

Running in considerably dryer conditions than Tuesday's sodden session, Alexander Wurz clocked the quickest time, a massive 24 seconds faster than Sato's mark of yesterday. Antonio Pizzonia again impressed for the Williams outfit whilst Giancarlo Fisichella finished third fastest for Jordan.

Testing concludes tomorrow (Thursday) with Pedro de la Rosa taking over driving duties.
