The Jaguar Racing team kicked off the final test session before the winter testing ban with Mark Webber and Antonio Pizzonia once again in action.

On the first of a four-day test session at the Jerez circuit in Spain, both drivers continued where they left off in Barcelona, testing the new gearbox, engine and Michelin tyre compounds on the Jaguar R3C.

Pizzonia racked up substantial mileage in clocking the fifth fastest time of the day, the Brazilian setting a quickest mark of 1m23.035s from 87 laps of the circuit. Webber had a less productive day, the Aussie encountering some technical problems and stopping out on the circuit during his 24 laps.

Running Renault's revolutionary new suspension system, Fernando Alonso finished on top of the lap times from Alexander Wurz's McLaren, Ralf Schumacher's Williams and fellow McLaren driver Kimi Raikkonen.
