Jaguar will try out Austrian Cristian Klien and American Townsend Bell at Valencia this week and the pair are eager to show what they can do behind the wheel. Klien, who competed in German F3 in 2003, is confident he can give Bell a run for his money.

"It will be a match-up between him and myself," he told the Austrian media. "Either of us wants to be faster and this means a lot of pressure. But I know I am very quick and will try to find a compromise between lapping the track as fast as possible and not spinning off, ruining the car. After all, these racers are expensive."

Bell, who has competed in CART and F3000 and is a former Indy Lights champion, previously tested for BAR in September. He would like to gain more fans for Formula One in America and Ford's US presence may have given him a slight advantage in gaining the test.

"I'd like to play a small part in making F1 more popular in the United States, which would be great for everyone, not just myself," he said. "None of it matters, however, unless you are getting the results on the racetrack."

"It is just a question of getting the right opportunity. Maybe that comes tomorrow; maybe that comes next year or the year after. Whether it is fair or not, I get a bit of an advantage because I'm an American, and that is nice, for once."
