The Jaguar Racing team began its preparations for the Silverstone Grand prix with Mark Webber behind the wheel of the R4 for the first of a three-day test session at the Circuit de Catalunya in Spain.

With only a handful of their allocated testing days left between now and the end of the season, the team worked on different aerodynamic settings and general mechanical set up.

"With our limited testing time, we're trying out a number of things during testing, mainly to get direction for next year's R5," commented Managing Director, David Pitchforth. "Our two hour slot on the Friday of the grand prix weekend will be used for general set-up work and less radical things."

An extremely busy Circuit de Catalunya saw no less than 13 other drivers joining Webber on Wednesday, the Australian completing 86 laps of the circuit in setting a fastest time of 1:19.738. Following on from their dominant performances in the last two grands prix, Williams drivers Ralf Schumacher and Marc Gene occupied the top two placings on the time sheet.

Testing continues on Thursday with Mark Webber once again in action.
