Eddie Irvine may not be in competition this year but that doesn't mean the opinionated Irishman is keeping quiet about Formula One. Irvine was team mate to Michael Schumacher at Ferrari for four years and he agrees with the other critics that the champion can't cope with pressure.

"Michael Schumacher can say what he likes but Formula One's Iron Man buckles under pressure," Irvine commented in the British press. "Every time Schumacher is up against it he screws up and his antics in Malaysia more than justify my claims."

"He says he can cope but what happened at Sepang was a beginner's error and he deserved all the stick he got. The way he drove into Jarno Trulli is not something you expect from a five-time world champion. But the reason for his blunder was that Michael found himself under pressure and that is his Achilles heel."

"I have always praised Schumacher for his sheer pace, dedication, fitness and skill behind the wheel but in pressure situations he is one of the worst on the grid."

Schumacher himself has shrugged off the criticism and claims he is not under pressure. The German has yet to score a podium finish this season and McLaren's Kimi Raikkonen currently leads the Driver's championship.
