It's always important to remember the hidden heroes of motorsport, the people who "work in the shade" as legendary driver Jacky Ickx famously called them - the volunteers and marshals. Without them we'd have no motor racing.
In Monaco the marshals' speed and skill was again in evidence as they cleared away swiftly the broken bits of cars after the inevitable collisions on the narrow street circuit. In total for the Monaco GP, 650 marshals, 210 first aid workers and 610 controllers are needed to keep the show on the road.
