How to watch F1 on Apple TV in the US: Devices, free trial, and price

Apple has secured exclusive Formula 1 streaming rights in the United States for when ESPN's contract with the championship comes to an end at the close of 2025. Here's everything you need to know about streaming and watching F1 races on Apple's streaming platform, Apple TV.

Compatible devices and apps

Apple TV is supported on a number of devices and browsers. Make sure to download the latest updates for your device.

• Smart TVs from Samsung, LG, Sony, and Vizio

The Apple TV app comes pre-installed on Apple devices and is available for download from the App Store. It's also available to download on supported smart TVs and streaming devices through their respective app stores.

Apple TV subscription requirements

To watch F1 races in the US, you will need an active Apple TV subscription, which will include access to F1 TV Premium. The press release confirms, "Additional information, including production and product details, and all the ways fans will be able to enjoy F1 content across their favourite Apple products and services, will be announced in the coming months."

• Monthly: $12.99 per month (price as of 2025)
• Annual: $99 per year (price as of 2025)
• Free trial: Seven-day trial for new subscribers, then $12.99 per month
• Bundle options: Apple One includes Apple TV alongside other Apple services starting at $19.95 per month

"When you’re a subscriber to Apple TV, you get all of the qualifying, races, practices, everything that you can get, no additional cost whatsoever," Apple's senior vice president of services Eddy Cue said.

Viewing calendar

All F1 races, qualifying and practice sessions will stream live on Apple TV starting from the 2026 season. The press release also adds: "Select races, and all practice sessions throughout the season will also be available to watch for free in the Apple TV app. F1 TV Premium, F1’s own premier content offering, will continue to be available in the U.S. via an Apple TV subscription only and will be free for those who subscribe."

On-demand replay will also be available. Given the global viewership of the championship, many races air in the early morning for American viewers, making the on-demand service even more important. 

The announcement of the new five-year deal with Apple TV also confirmed that a Spanish-language option will be offered.

“One of the things that we’re going to be doing, the Hispanic community around the United States is huge," Cue said. "And so we’ll be broadcasting all the races also in Spanish as well. And so you’ll be able to very easily switch and back and forth and anything like that. And closed captioning.

"So we do all of those capabilities that we have in Apple TV.”
