Nick Heidfeld has been at somewhat of a loose end since Sauber dispensed with his services at the end of the season but the German will be back behind the wheel in December with Jordan. Heidfeld has been one of the names linked with Jordan in regard to a race seat for 2004 but whether a deal will come to fruition is yet to be seen.

In the meantime however, Jordan has opted for Heidfeld's services at a three-day test from December 3rd to 5th, at the Spanish circuit of Jerez. Heidfeld suffered at Sauber this season, the car generally uncompetitive, and he finished the year with only six points. However, the 26 year old is considered a viable option and Jordan is keen to utilize Nick's talents as soon as possible.

"Nick is a prime candidate for a revitalised Jordan Grand Prix next year and we are anxious for him to start getting to know the team at this stage," said boss Eddie Jordan in a statement from the team. "It is an important test as we have got a lot of new components to try as well as vital tyre testing for Bridgestone."

Jordan will run two EJ13 cars in Jerez, the second of which will be driven by 20 year old Czech Jarek Janis. The 2004 EJ14 is due to be launched in the first week of February, date and location to be confirmed.
