Hamilton "unbeatable" on a good day, says Wolff

Lewis Hamilton is an "unbeatable" driver on a good day, according to his Mercedes boss Toto Wolff.

Hamilton, who took his sixth win in seven races in the German Grand Prix, has recovered from being 43 points down in the championship to lead teammate Nico Rosberg by 19 points ahead of the summer break.

"The guy has a great talent and speed, and on a good day I think he is unbeatable," said Wolff of Hamilton.

"But then it is still a mechanical sport, and he is a human, and you can have bad days and worse days - and this is why he is not winning every single race.

"I really admire the way it is going, the ping-pong between those two and the way they keep coming back."

Rosberg not out of contention

Wolff reckons, however, that Rosberg can still recover despite Hamilton's impressive run.

Asked if Rosberg can fight back, Wolff said: "A big yes. We have seen him starting the season extremely well and he had an end of season 2015 when it was very good and there are still nine races to go.

"There are more nine races to go, so more than 200 points to recover and everything goes.

"It's an impressive record [from Hamilton], a bit like Nico towards the end of the season and the beginning of this, and he has recovered all the points he has lost and it is about maintaining.

"If there is something like momentum it is for him to keep the momentum but we have seen it coming in waves in both direction, so it will be interesting to see how it pans out when we come back after the summer break."
