For the third race in succession, Mika Hakkinen has qualified off the front row of the grid, and is clearly disappointed with such. It is also the fourth time in a row he has been out-qualified by Coulthard, who was re-signed by the team on Friday.

Hakkinen is only 0.003 behind Rubens Barrichello, who put in a final flying lap to snatch third from the Finn. He blames this on a small problem with the car, which has yet to be confirmed by the team.

"I am disappointed to be where I am because being off the front row is starting to become a little bit of a habit. There is a small problem with the car somewhere and if we have to work all night to find it we will."

However, he says there is little cause for concern and that anything can happen in the race, with him doing his utmost best to win and close the gap to Schumacher in the Drivers' Championship.

"I don't think it is anything to be alarmed about because anything can happen in the race and I will be doing my best to win the race and make up for the grid position."

He currently lags behind the Ferrari star by twenty-four points and must win this weekend to put his quest for the title back on track; however, he has never won at Magny-Cours, and with rain predicted, anything can happen.
