Grosjean "has made his decision" on F1 future

The Frenchman has impressed for Lotus this season, and delivered the team's only podium finish of the campaign with a third placed finish at the Belgian Grand Prix.

Although he has a deal with the Enstone-based outfit for next year, a potential takeover of the team by Renault could mean that his terms need to be renegotiated, or could leave him a free agent to switch to Haas.

Speaking ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, Grosjean declined to elaborate about what he was planning to do – but made clear he knew what was happening.

"I think the only thing I can tell you is my decision – I've made my decision," he said.

"Everything is clear in my head and I know what is going to happen for me in the future. I won't tell you any more."

Haas wants experience

The Haas team has been clear that it wants experienced drivers on board for its debut season, and Grosjean would be the perfect fit.

However, equally, Grosjean could feel that his future is better set sticking with Renault if the takeover happens rather than facing competitive uncertainty at a new team.

Should Grosjean leave Lotus, then it would leave a vacancy at the outfit alongside Pastor Maldonado.

Mexican Sergio Perez has been linked with Renault in recent weeks, but continues to insist that he is closing in on a deal with Force India.

Having originally said he expected his deal to be sorted before this weekend, he is still hopeful of his future being settled imminently.

"I think definitely progress has been made but we are not yet in the position to announce anything," he said.

"I think we are just in the final bit and I hope very soon we can finalise everything. The team is happy to keep me and I am happy to stay, so I see no reason why it shouldn't happen soon."
