Timo Glock looks likely to be announced as a Toyota race driver in the near future after BWM Sauber confirmed that the German would not be continuing as the team's third driver. Glock, who previously raced for Jordan, joined BMW for 2007 and also competed in the GP2 series, taking the title at the season finale at Valencia.

"Timo Glock will no longer be driving for the BMW Sauber F1 team next year," said team boss Mario Theissen, according to Reuters. "We have offered him the position of test driver in our team but he has been given the opportunity to race for another team. We wish Timo every success in his future F1 career."

Glock was thought to have agreed a deal with Toyota but BMW also laid claim to his services for 2008 and the matter went to the Contract Recognition Board (CRB). Media reports indicate that the CRB has ruled he can go to Toyota, although there has yet to be official confirmation. Whatever the case, it seems that BMW is on the lookout for a new test driver.

Jarno Trulli has a contract with Toyota for next year and Glock, should he be confirmed, will replace Ralf Schumacher, who has already left. The rumour mill suggests that Trulli might not be safe, though, as the Japanese outfit is allegedly keen on enticing Fernando Alonso to join. The double-champion has yet to make his plans known after leaving McLaren.
