Mercedes' George Russell claimed his crash during the second practice session ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix was "a bit of a weird one".
With 42 minutes to go in practice 2, Russell crashed into the wall at Turn 16, leading to the first red flag of the session. The crash caused a puncture and damage to the front wing. Russell was able to limp the car back to the pitlane, but the damage was enough to rule him out of the rest of the session.
"It was a bit of a weird one, to be honest. I'm not too sure what happened," the Briton explained to Sky Sports F1.
"Braked a bit earlier, went in a little bit slower, but then just lost the rear, but thankfully sort of went in front end on and didn't do too much damage, but obviously game over. So, yeah, a bit annoying. Sorry to the team for that, but better today than tomorrow."
The Mercedes driver finished practice 1 with the 11th-fastest time and will head into qualifying tomorrow on the back foot after missing crucial track time in practice 2.

"FP1 was challenging, but in those early laps, I had a much better feel with the car, to be honest, and the pace seemed better. We didn't complete any laps, so there was no sort of real lap time on the board, but at least the sort of laps, if we took the sectors together, felt better. But as I said, it's not been our best Friday by a long way.
"But in Singapore, the track's always evolving, there's a bit of rain in the air, so I'm not too concerned."
Russell currently sits fourth in the drivers' standings with 212 points, behind four-time champion Max Verstappen in third with 255 points.
