Mike Gascoyne, the former Jordan chief designer, left the team last year for Renault, has returned to recruit engineers from his former team.

Engineers Bob Bell, Chris Cooney, Bob Halloway and John Iley have left Jordan, and will now be working under Gascoyne at the British-French team.

Gascoyne had earlier, at the start of the 2001 season, hired longtime Jordan designer Mark Smith for the team as well, so the Renault engineering staff now includes no fewer than six ex-Jordan engineers and designers.

Jordan's technical director, Gary Anderson, who returned to the team after a stint at Jaguar, now has his hands full, as the EJ11 development had stalled under the direction of the former technical director, Egbahl Hamidy.

Hamidy has now been relegated to managing the aerodynamic program only, with Tim Holloway managing the engineering team.
