The French Motorsports Federation has chosen the Le Castellet circuit in southern France to host the French F1 Grand Prix for five years from 1997 but the choice must be approved of by the FIA.

The track near Toulon was home to the race between 1985 and 1990. However, since 1990 the Grand Prix has been held at Magny-Cours in central France.

Le Castellet, which is close to Toulon, received 21 votes from FFSA board members, Magny-Cours got five and Le Mans three. --- þ 1st 1.11 #8604 þ Fugaces labuntur anni.
