Japanese star to drive for Jordan at Suzuka

Satoshi Motoyama, the Japanese driver leading the 2003 Formula Nippon Championship, will drive Jordan Ford's third car at the private test session on Friday 10 October, ten years since Jordan gave Eddie Irvine, the then Formula Nippon Championship leader, his F1 debut at Suzuka.

Motoyama has four race wins in the Formula Nippon Championship (won by Ralph Firman last year) to his name including one at Suzuka for Team IMPUL, owned by the legendary Japanese driver Kazuyoshi Hoshino. He is also currently second in the All Japan Grand Touring Car Championship.

Motoyama said, "I would like to thank the Jordan Ford team for giving me a great opportunity to drive Jordan Ford's third car at Suzuka. I have been dreaming of this chance for long time. I consider this opportunity as a big step in advancing my future racing career."

"I have raced in Suzuka many times and I know the track very well, but it will be my first time driving an F1 car so I think it will be very different. It will be a big challenge for me, and I will do my best to show my driving skills in the limited time."
