Jordan's Giancarlo Fisichella is fit to take part in the German Grand Prix, having been given the all clear by Professor Sid Watkins. Fisichella suffered concussion and some memory loss after a high speed crash in practice for the French GP last weekend. The Italian was airlifted to hospital for tests and later returned to the Magny Cours circuit but did not take part in qualifying or the race on medical advice.

That weekend the FIA gave its assent to former Jordan driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen to stand in for Fisichella for the race but although Frentzen agreed, legal problems prevented it. It's not known whom Jordan may have been thinking of for a stand in this weekend if the situation was repeated but happily Fisichella is fit and well. Jordan released the following statement:

"As expected, Giancarlo Fisichella was given the all-clear to take part in this weekend's German Grand Prix. First port of call for the Italian, when he arrived at Hockenheim, was the Medical Centre, where F1 doctor Prof. Sid Watkins and local medical man, Dr. Klaus Zerbian declared Giancarlo fit for battle.
