This was the third day of testing this week and Scuderia Ferrari-Marlboro was working at two tracks: with Eddie Irvine at Mugello and Michael Schumacher at Fiorano. On the Tuscan track, overnight rain delayed the programme. The track only dried at around one o'clock, allowing Irvine to do a few runs of a different number of laps each. The Irish driver worked on tyres, aerodynamics and some car componentry. Irvine did a total of 69 laps with a best time of 1m 29.139s.

Meanwhile, Fiorano benefited from good weather all day. Schumacher tried various types of tyre. He did a total of 46 laps (best time 1m 01.980s. The German driver continues running at the Maranello company's private test track tomorrow.
