Ferrari team principal Jean Todt confirmed this week that the team are having some problems with the new engine/gearbox system.

At a recent Shell promotional dinner Chief Designer Rory Byrne explained that Ferrari are working on radical techical developements for the F2002, one of which is an all-together arrangement of engine and gearbox.

Todt admitted that they are experiencing problems, but that it's only natural that new concepts need to be worked on.

He dismissed any sggestions that the glitches would affect Ferrari's 2002 challenge, saying design and developement were progressing as planned and although the team aim to start the new season with the F2002, the F2001 would be on stand by if necessary.

Ferrari will test as soon as possible after the ban is lifted on January 1st, new test driver Luciano Burti was signed as the team wanted someone with experience for the extent of testing they plan to do.
