Third day of testing for Scuderia Ferrari Marlboro at the Mugello circuit. Today, it was Rubens Barrichello's turn to drive, as he continued with development work on the F2001, concentrating mainly on trying different set-ups. The Brazilian also did a few practice starts. Barrichello covered a total of 84 laps, equivalent to around 440 kilometres, without encountering any technical problems. The best time of the day was a 1.24.079.

"I am happy with the way development work has gone up to today," said Barrichello.

Sauber were testing once again today and Nick Heidfeld did 77 laps with a best time of 1.23.364.

Both Ferrari drivers will be working tomorrow: Rubens Barrichello starting in the morning, while Schumacher will be back behind the wheel in the afternoon.
