China Circuit Championship and the Prancing Horse come to Shanghai Circuit
Shanghai Circuit is proud to announce that the opening race of the China Circuit Championship will take place at the newly-built circuit on 6th June 2004. To coincide with this opening event, Ferrari - known throughout China for its famous prancing horse brand - will be running a number of exciting events at the Shanghai Circuit and throughout Shanghai.
The China Circuit Championship (CCC), jointly supported by Shanghai Circuit and CCTV, marks the start of a new era for Chinese motor racing. The endorsement of FIA Formula One World Champions Ferrari is an excellent added bonus for the Championship organisers, sponsors and the spectators. This will be the highest level of motor racing in mainland China. The CCC is a race dedicated to Chinese spectators and the aim is to provide a sporting event that is participated in and enjoyed by the Chinese people who love sport as well as cars.
The involvement of Italy's legendary Scuderia Ferrari racing team and sports car manufacturer with the Circuit's authorities will coincide with the first ever race to take place on the Circuit. The presence of the F1 team, whose name is synonymous with the sport, is recognition of the importance of establishing motor racing in Shanghai and in China. This is seen as a springboard for a number of commercial, sporting and cultural developments.
The race weekend in early June will see a number of initiatives from Shanghai Circuit and Ferrari designed to give the fans a wonderfully entertaining experience, as well as allowing Ferrari owners the chance to sample the Circuit at first hand and to parade through the streets of Shanghai.
Shanghai Circuit has completed the construction of the futuristic Formula One circuit on time and is looking forward to welcoming the FIA Formula One World Championship to Shanghai in September. The first Chinese Grand Prix will be a momentous event and the people of Shanghai and China look forward to a long and fruitful co-operation with the Championship.
