British GP to feature four days of track action

The British Grand Prix will feature track action on all four days for the first time, with Formula 2 and GP3 practice sessions set to take place on Thursday.

British GP to feature four days of track action

Although it has yet to be formally confirmed, F1 bosses have requested the change in order to open up more space later in the weekend in what is traditionally a very tight schedule.

Silverstone says that once the new timetable is finalised it will put special Thursday tickets on sale, while allowing access for all weekend ticket holders.

The move is not unprecedented, with Melbourne having featured action on all four days for many years, while GP2 has run a practice session on Thursday in Malaysia.

"We are working with Formula 1 and the FIA to try and make this happen," a spokesperson for the venue told Motorsport.com.

"But it has not been absolutely confirmed yet. I understand that F1 are to release the Silverstone timetable imminently, and that this will give us the final confirmation of Thursday activity.

"If this is confirmed we will open up the Thursday afternoon of the event to all weekend ticket holders, but also will be selling a separate ticket for Thursday that will include access to the Travis concert in the evening."
