The expectation is Sauber will become Ferrari's unofficial B team next season. Such a move would help launch F1's worst team (statistically at least) back into the midfield. So why is its team boss undecided?
Unless something extraordinary happens, Sauber will end this season 10th in the constructors' championship for the third time in four years.
It is comfortably the worst period in its F1 history, having never finished as low as 10th before 2014. Its high-water mark, as BMW's factory team, was runner-up in 2007.
