Zanardi and WilliamsF1 split
Zanardi and WilliamsF1 have issued a joint statement: "Williams and Alex Zanardi announced tonight a joint decision to terminate their Formula One relationship, with the effect that Alex Zanardi will not drive for the BMW Williams team in 2000. This decision follows a difficult 1999 season for Alex and Williams. We would like to thank Alex for his efforts for the team in 1999 and wish him every success for the future."

Benetton tests B200
Benetton have been testing the newly launched B200 extensively this week, alongside a B199, at the Circuit de Catalunya. On Tuesday the aim was for a shakedown. Alex Wurz was clearly pleased with the testing, saying "The engine sounds super fantastic and the car feels good. I didn't want to stop but the circuit was closed, so I had to. It's difficult to say much after one lap but I do feel very happy".
By Thursday the team was into reliability running, with Wurz doing 61 laps in the B200. Fisichella did brake-testing in the B199. Wurz said that "We took a bg step forward with the balance today and did some good work on the engine. I can't remember the last time I completed 61 laps here in one day!"
On Friday, Giancarlo Fisichella had his first run in the B200. "My initial impression is that the engine seems very good and I have a good feeling in the car... Once we get the new wing package, as we've been running one from the B199, I think there will be a significant improvement."
Zonta worries about BAR speed
Ricardo Zonta has said that he feels the BAR 02 is currently too slow. "We are not very quick. We lack downforce, so we are struggling in the faster corners and we also lack traction. A new aerodynamic package should be ready for the second week of February and we are also expecting something more from Honda".
