F1 legends come together for Eddie Jordan tribute at British GP

A number of Formula 1 legends came together for a tribute to the late Eddie Jordan during the British Grand Prix weekend.

The race weekend at Silverstone honoured Jordan with on-track demonstration runs, car displays, and an on-stage memorial, with the likes of Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Johnny Herbert making appearances, as well as Damon Hill playing the guitar in front of a large crowd of fans.

Jordan served as the founder and team principal of the Jordan F1 team from 1991 until 2005. He was a big presence in the paddock having also held roles as a broadcaster with BBC Sport and Channel 4. Most recently, he partnered with former F1 driver David Coulthard for the Formula For Success podcast. The Irishman sadly passed away on 20 March 2025 after a battle with an aggressive form of prostate and bladder cancer.

Sky Sports presenter and former F1 driver Martin Brundle was also among those leading the tributes during the British Grand Prix weekend. As part of the demonstration runs, he got behind the wheel of his 1983 Formula 3 car.

"Drove my 1983 F3 car at Silverstone GP today in the Eddie Jordan tribute run," the former driver wrote on social media. "Brought back so many memories."

Some of the cars included in the static displays were the 1987 Reynard 873, in which Herbert clinched the British F3 title in with Eddie Jordan Racing, the 1991 Jordan 191, which was Michael Schumacher's legendary chassis from his F1 debut at Spa, and the 2000 EJ10, which featured the eye-catching yellow 'Buzzin' Hornets' livery. The 2003 Jordan EJ13, the original chassis driven by Giancarlo Fisichella at the 2003 Brazilian Grand Prix, was also present.

Included in the on-track demonstration runs were the 1983 Ralt RT3, driven by Brundle; the 1989 Reynard 89D, which won the International F3000 title with Jean Alesi; the 1994 Jordan 194, which secured Jordan's first F1 podium and pole position; and the 1995 Jordan 195, driven by Rubens Barrichello and Eddie Irvine.
