Formula 1 fans have delivered their verdict on recent reports linking former Red Bull chief Christian Horner to Aston Martin.
Amid the drama of the Las Vegas Grand Prix, reports emerged claiming that Horner is in line to replace Aston Martin team principal and CEO Andy Cowell.
The Briton was replaced as Red Bull team principal and CEO on 9 July 2025 after 20 years at the helm of the Milton Keynes outfit by former Racing Bulls team chief Laurent Mekies. He later reached a settlement agreement with Red Bull in September, which is understood to allow Horner to return to the championship in 2026 should he find a suitable role.
Since reaching the settlement, Horner has been linked to various teams, including Alpine, Ferrari and Haas. But the recent reports now claim the 52-year-old could reunite with Adrian Newey, as it is believed that Cowell has fallen out with the managing technical partner of the Silverstone outfit.
Fans have been quick to share their thoughts on the possible move. One fan wrote on Reddit, "I mean it would be f***ing cinema so yeah do it Aston, Red Bull all-star team when Max comes in 2027 to partner Stroll," while another added: "If Horner hated the idea of Mintzlaff having more oversight of the Red Bull team, he is going to hate being under Lawrence Stroll."
Some hint that this could have been the plan all along.
"This was a plan from the beginning. Honda dumps RBR. Newey gets hired, RBR sh**s the bed, Horner leaves knowing he’ll get hired by AM after Newey sets it up. Max comes over to a fully set-up team in 2027. All because RBR owners didn’t say good morning to Horner and Newey one Friday morning. Something like that. Definitely not," one fan wrote.

Questioning the rumours of a falling out between Newey and Horner when the former left Red Bull, another fan posted: "Newey and Horner were at a concert together with their families a few months ago.
"I strongly believe Newey and Horner never had a fallout. The vibe inside the team just got more and more toxic with Horner/RBR against Austria/RB GmbH, so Newey, who I suspect is a person that needs a good mood inside the building, decided to take on a new role with finally getting a share inside the team.
"Do you guys remember Bahrain last year when Verstappen won? You had Horner and his wife +Yoovidhya standing on one side of the fence and Marko with Jos on the other side. Guess where Newey was.... right next to Horner."
The reports are yet to be confirmed by Aston Martin or Horner.
