GASTON MAZZACANE
8th
Chassis 04 1:42:44.802
"I am satisfied to see the finish line at my fifth consecutive race, especially because it was the first time I raced in the rain with a poor experience under my belt in such conditions. I did not take too many risks, except one at the third curve, on lap one, when I tried to overtake Zonta and finished in the grass. The work we are doing on the titanium gearbox casing is very positive. It ran trouble free in its first race: it is very good mechanically, there are only a few modifications to be done."

MARC GENE'
Stopped on lap 48 due to throttle failure
Chassis 03
"I did a very good start and my car was performing really well allowing me to drive at the same pace as Button who was in front of me. When it started to rain the situation got riskier because it is hard to understand where is the limit. I was able to catch Verstappen and everything was okay until I spun off the track at a curve where the asphalt was particularly slippery. I continued, then I went to the garage to switch to wet tyres and to change the nose because it was damaged. Once I took to track, my car felt very good again on the wet asphalt. After a few laps I experienced a problem to the throttle, I continued until it was completely broken 30 laps later. My car performed really well in the first part of the race, when I was ahead of a Jaguar and a Sauber that were not quicker than me, but I feel obviously disappointed for my retirement. It is better to look forward to Montecarlo now."

Gian Carlo Minardi:
"A tough day! After a very good start Marc gained soon three positions. It was a shame that after spinning off the track the rest of the race was jeopardised. Later, he was forced to retire when the throttle broke down. Obviously we are very pleased with Gastón who did his first race in the wet and managed the situation very well. In the second part of the race he posted some excellent times close to those of the midfield and this certainly bodes well for the future. Today we could get something more from Marc but this is how things stand and after all we are fairly satisfied with this Grand Prix."
