Pedro de la Rosa has spoken out against Jaguar team mate Eddie Irvine, saying that working with the Irishman was the worst part of the season. Not usually known for harsh judgements, de la Rosa claims Irvine is inconsistent and difficult to work with when things are not going so well. By the end of the season the pair were no longer speaking to each other.

"Working with Irvine has been the worst part of the season," de la Rosa said in an interview with Spanish radio. "He's very inconsistent with his decisions and it's very hard to work with him, especially when things are going wrong."

"When things are going right everybody is happy, but when things go wrong you have to be united, and that has been very hard with him. We hardly talked at the start of the season, and as the races went by, we stopped talking to each other. In the final races we didn't even look at each other's eyes."

Irvine recently blamed de la Rosa for the slow development of the R3, saying the Spaniard did not notice things wrong with the car, which hampered progress. While Jaguar have yet to confirm drivers for next year, de la Rosa hopes Irvine will be gone: "I'm not the one responsible for this (keeping Irvine), but as far as I know he won't stay. I hope he won't," he commented.

Reports in the British press say that Jaguar have already signed Mark Webber but are delaying an announcement until they decide on who will partner the Australian. Irvine and de la Rosa are both in the running, as is Williams test driver Antonio Pizzonia.
