DaimlerChrysler sells the Special Project Group division of Mercedes-Ilmor Ltd. (Brixworth, UK) as well as its 25% stake in Ilmor Engineering Inc. (Michigan, USA) to Penske Racing of Delaware, Mario Illien and Elizabeth Morgan on June 30th 2005.

In order to focus the Mercedes-Ilmor activities on Formula 1, this sale is the final logical step in the acquisition process initiated in December 2002 when DaimlerChrysler took majority control of Mercedes-Ilmor.

At the end of September 2005 Mercedes-Ilmor will be a 100% subsidiary of DaimlerChrysler. The Special Projects Group and Ilmor Engineering Inc. mainly focus on engine programmes for Indy Racing League, Nascar and specialty engine programmes.

With this transaction Mercedes-Ilmor Ltd. will change its name to Mercedes-Benz High Performance Engines Ltd.
