McLaren's incoming Formula 1 CEO Jost Capito will be back with the team at the Belgian Grand Prix next weekend after confirming his VW exit this week, but has still yet to finalise an official start date with the Woking-based outfit.

Capito, who is currently Volkswagen's Motorsport boss, announced at the Rally Germany that this weekend's WRC event would be his last with the German car manufacturer.

Despite having agreed his McLaren move in January, he made it clear at the time that he would only take up the role once he had appointed a successor.

Although there has been no announcement about that yet, Capito told the media in Germany that he would not be attending any more rallies with Volkswagen.

With the China Rally having been cancelled, that still leaves VW with several weeks to sort out and announce Capito's replacement before the Tour de Corse at the end of September.

Although it is understood Capito's contract with VW finishes at the end of August, McLaren said on Friday that no formal start date for him had yet been agreed.

However, it has been confirmed that Capito will join McLaren at Spa-Francorchamps as he gets up to speed with his new environment.

Capito also attended the Bahrain and Monaco Grands Prix this year.
