Ralf continues to pull away ... with under 20 laps left, he has now pulled a seven second gap!

Ralf pits in under eight seconds after yet another fastest lap -- and pulls back out well ahead of his brother, to the cheers of 100,000 fans.

Hakkinen pits in an identical 8.4 seconds, and returns to track nearly 10 seconds ahead of Coulthard. Will McLaren team orders come into play?

responds by reeling off two fastest laps in a row.  How long can he stay out?

Coulthard pits with about 25 laps to go ... just ahead of Hakkinen! Does the Scot have a problem, having allowed his teammate to catch up?

Both Villeneuve and Zonta pull off within a few laps of each other; Zonta passes Panis in the pits, and Hakkinen gets by Raikkonen on the track.

Montoya loses control on the back of the circuit, and bounces off the kerbs into the wall! Barrichello spins off, with finality this time, avoiding the Colombian's Williams. The two were in 10th and 11th places before the accident.

Barrichello spins off at the hairpin! He was pushing his car hard, trying to get close enough to Ralf, and spun off onto the grass. He recovers, but not until most of the field has passed him by.

Barrichello pulls past Coulthard easily just before the front straight -- the Brazilian appears to be running on a lighter fuel load.

Eddie Irvine punts off Nick Heidfeld, and Jenson Button and Giancarlo Fisichella collide in the two Benettons.

Mika Hakkinen in tenth place after the first lap. Jacques Villeneuve had a poor start and is well back in the field.

Michael Schumacher takes the lead from brother Ralf at the start, followed by David Coulthard, Rubens Barrichello, Jarno Trulli, Olivier Panis, Kimi Raikkonen and Jos Verstappen.
