Motorsport.ccom - Prost driver Luciano Burti, who experienced a high-speed crash at the past weekend's Belgian Grand Prix, is to remain in hospital until at least the end of the week.

The Brazilian is staying at the Liege University Hospital, and has undergone a brain scan. At this point there is no swelling, only slight bruising of the brain, but the doctors have decided to keep him for observation for the coming week.

"He is recovering really fast, and woke up normally by himself this morning," the Prost team announced. "He will stay in the hospital in Liege until the end of the week, and possibly over the weekend."

Meanwhile, with the Italian Grand Prix less than two weeks away, Prost is scrambling to line up a backup driver, should Burti not be ready to return to the cockpit at Monza.

The candidates for driving alongside Heinz-Harald Frentzen include Ferrari test driver Luca Badoer, and Formula 3000 runner-up Tomas Enge.
