The 2004 British Grand Prix looks set move forward from the 4th to the 11th July, taking the place of the French Grand Prix that seems unlikely to be on the calendar next year. Organizers of the British event at Silverstone announced they have started selling tickets for the July 11th spot, although on a provisional basis.

The change of date would avoid a clash of sporting events, that of the GP with the Wimbledon men's tennis final and the Euro 2004 soccer finals. Silverstone has also lowered ticket prices for the race. Various prices are available depending on choice of seating and if booked before the 1st March 2004, some tickets are on special offer.

"We made it clear at this year's British Grand Prix that we would review pricing for 2004 and we've honoured this commitment," said Silverstone managing director Andrew Waller. "We believe the new pricing offers better value for money to everyone."

The FIA is scheduled to confirm the 2004 calendar in the near future.
