Jean Alesi: After the first start I was worried that I had a clutch problem, but everything was okay until shortly before my second pit stop, when I began to detect a problem with the throttle potentiometer. I made my second stop, but immediately the problem got worth so I stopped again at the end of the 34th lap. The team performed a software bypass to overcome the problem, but by then I was far too far behind to score the points I believe we deserved.

Pedro Diniz:

I said yesterday that I was looking forward to a good race, but it was a tough one, with plenty of pressure. Fisichella in particular was strong competition in the closing stages. My car was pretty difficult to drive, with too much oversteer, and my second pit stop was a little long, but otherwise things went quite well and I am really pleased to be in the points again.

Peter Sauber:

It is very, very difficult to score World Championship points, but today we managed it again so therefore we are very happy. Congratulations, Pedro. Unfortunately, Jean was denied his chance because of a mechanical problem. Sorry Jean, but in two weeks there will be another opportunity.

Weather:

Sunny.
