Bridgestone Motorsport is pleased to announce the latest addition to the ranks of Bridgestone runners for the 2003 FIA Formula One World Championship in the form of the Minardi Formula One team. This latest news boosts the number of Bridgestone supplied teams to five.

Following the sudden cessation of supply of tyres to Minardi at the end of November by Bridgestone's competitor, Bridgestone is pleased to fulfil its responsibilities as an official Formula One tyre supplier and consequently supply the Minardi team.

Bridgestone first supplied the Faenza-based team (Italy), in 1997 and confirmation of the deal sees the welcome return of Jos Verstappen to the list of Bridgestone drivers. The Dutchman has long been a supporter of the Japanese company since starting his career in karting and he has forged excellent relationships with Bridgestone engineers over the years.

The supply of tyres to Minardi also sees British rising star, Justin Wilson running on Bridgestone rubber in what will be his debut season in Formula 1.

Hiroshi Yasukawa, Director of Bridgestone Motorsport:

"2003 is an important year for the Minardi team as they strive to really establish themselves in the ultra competitive arena of Formula 1 and, as with all our teams, we will give them our support as their tyre supplier. We are also very pleased to be renewing our working relationship with Jos Verstappen. He will be a great asset to the team."
