HAKKINEN IN CHAMPION FORM AT BARCELONA

Bridgestone Motorsport was on hand at the Circuit de Catalunya near Barcelona to service the four Grand Prix teams taking part in the testing on January 26.28.

The best time was achieved by reigning world champion Mika Hakkinen, who lapped in 1m 21.75s, using last year's McLaren MP4/13.

Bridgestone brought approximately 1100 tyres to the test, all conforming with the 1999 regulations. There were two different specifications of dry-weather tyre and two specifications of wet-weather tyre.

The car attracting most attention was the all-new Williams FW21, which had been shown to the press for the first time on January 25. The first runs by the new Williams were in the hands of Alex Zanardi.

Next week's testing takes place at the Silverstone and Magny-Cours circuits, where Bridgestone will again be present.
