The decision about a return to F1 in 1997 is expected to be pronounced this month.

According to "MOTORSPORT aktuell" the "BMW-Motorsport-GmbH" will move from Munic to England and the former Brabham chief egineer Gordon Murray and engine specialist Paul Rosche will manage the team.

BMW was in F1 from 1982 to 1987 with Brabham, Arrows, Benetton and ATS. 91 GP, 15 pole positions, 9 GP wins. 1983 Nelson Piquet was the first F1 world champion with a turbo engine (Brabham-BMW). Their last GP win was gained by Gerhard Berger 1986 in Mexico with a Benetton-BMW-Turbo. This was the most powerful engine ever in a F1 car with more than 1300 h.p.
