Bite-size tech: Toro Rosso STR11 front wing

Toro Rosso continues to experiment with the technical specifications of the STR11 as it looks to find the best package to compensate for the deficit of its year-old power unit around Spa-Francorchamps.

The team took a B-Spec package to the last race before the summer break in Germany, which included a new front wing design.

However, this doesn’t prevent Toro Rosso from trying more things in Belgium as it looks to maximise its package for the Spa circuit.

You’ll note that STR has a couple of front wings at its disposal as the team looks to understand how the STR11 works around the circuit.

Not for the first time, the junior Red Bull team will use a front wing configuration with the top flap cut back to assess how a change in load affects the balance of the car around the entirety of the lap.

You’ll note that the other wing in use (above) also has a very short chord upper flap.
