Bite-size tech: McLaren MP4-31 front wing
McLaren continues to address its weaknesses with changes to the MP4-31's front wing and just as was the case at Silverstone, it is Fernando Alonso who is running the newer specification.
It's the top flap which has been changed, with the team reverting to a similar design to the one it used in Spain (highlighted in green), where the flap is split into two sections at the inboard tip, much like the flap below.
You'll note from the Spanish configuration (inset) that the shape of the flap and the tips are also very different on both the upper and lower flaps in Hungary.
The flap shape and number at the tips will have an impact on the rotation of the Y250 vortex shed from the mainplanes flap and neutral section below.
