"It was a marvellous victory. The car was perfect, as were the pit stops and everything went off fine from start to finish this weekend. With my race engineer, Gabriele Delli Colli, we did a great job. I get on very well with him and we work well together," said the Brazilian. "I want to thank everyone; Todt, Brawn, Martinelli, Byrne, the engineers and the mechanics. And also all the guys on the test team and the people who work at Maranello. This was also down to all their efforts. I am happy to be part of a team like Ferrari."

Barrichello explained there had been no team orders. "They would not have been any use," he said. "There was no sense in taking risks on a difficult track like this, where it is hard to overtake because, once off the racing line the track is very risky. "We have achieved a splendid one-two finish, which has brought us the Championship title. Now, I am concentrating on my next objective which is to take the runner-up position in the Drivers' category, even if it is a bit early given there are still 40 points to play for. For now I want to enjoy this moment."
