Lucky Strike B.A.R Honda have had a productive first day at the Circuit de Catalunya, taking full advantage of the warm, dry weather. Olivier Panis completed 61 laps in the BAR004, continuing the development programme for the new car. Anthony Davidson completed 78 laps in the BAR003, with the emphasis on consolidating the long term development work he began in Valencia last week.
"We seem to have made some further improvements to the car and in general the day has been good. We need to make sure we continue in this direction for the rest of the test because I continue to feel very positive about the new chassis and the work Honda are doing to get us ready for the start of the season."
"Things have gone well today. I've completed a lot of laps and made some positive steps forward. We're at the stage now where we're really beginning to see the benefits of our development work and everyone is encouraged by the progress we've made - myself included."
Steve Farrell, Chief Engineer:
"We continue to try out new development parts both on the new car and on the BAR003 and we're making good progress in preparation for the Australian Grand Prix. Anthony has been driving last year's car today and is continuing his hard work on some longer term developments, while Olivier has focused on general set-up work. We also seem to have resolved some of the minor reliability problems we suffered in Valencia last week which is encouraging."
