Silverstone Circuit, England 3rd,4th, & 5th April 2001 Day 3
Thursday 5th April 2001 - wet weather hampered most of the three-day test for the for Lucky Strike Reynard BAR Honda team which meant a change to the testing schedule. Both Jacques Villeneuve and Olivier Panis were in attendance and both cars ran competitively during the dry period and both drivers were happy with the balance of the car. The team were testing tyres and traction control systems.
Day three saw the test cut short due to difficult weather conditions around the track.
STEVE FARRELL, CHIEF ENGINEER
"Even though it's been a test rather interrupted by poor weather, we have managed to come away with some good data. Wednesday was the only day that saw reasonable track conditions and both drivers took to the track to work through the testing programme. Jacques and Olivier were both happy with the car in its Imola Grand Prix specification and obviously traction control came in very useful in the very wet conditions! Naturally it would have been better to have dry weather, but it's been far from being a waste of time & effort."
ANDREW ALSWORTH, TEST TEAM MANAGER
"The test this week has not gone exactly to plan, the weather has been the major problem here but overall we've had a very productive three day's. Yesterday we managed to shakedown and run a brand new chassis for most of the day but unfortunately we had a minor incident with it when Jacques was caught out by the ever-changing track conditions, causing some damage. Olivier has been running both last years car and this years car which has given us some good data. The drivers and the team are now looking forward to the next Grand Prix in Imola."
